Miriam Uhura, born in 1997 in Highland Park, Michigan, is a self-taught painter whose work delves into themes of cultural significance, family, community, and futurism. Her art, characterized by realism portraiture using oils and acrylics, has been showcased in multiple galleries, where she also curates her own shows. In addition to her fine art, Miriam is a skilled body artist and piercer at the renowned Bloodline Dynasty tattoo shop, where she connects with clients through her "Cool Piercing Club," striving to make everyone feel seen, whether through body art or fine art

Her debut solo exhibition, "NOIR STAR," is currently on view at PLAYGROUND DETROIT from February 15 to March 15, 2025. This exhibition celebrates Black culture through the lens of portraiture, presenting a visual love letter to Black individuality by exploring personal style, boldness, and joy. The opening reception was a star-studded event, drawing a crowd of young art lovers eager to experience her vibrant portrayals of identity. An artist talk is scheduled for Saturday, offering attendees deeper insights into her creative process and the narratives behind her work.
